PUERTO RICO DOES IT AGAIN…………

Puerto Rico AACA Region had a long wait, after the 2015 Special National Meet we started to plan our next meet but hurricane Maria destroyed the island, then the earthquakes and finally the Covid.

But the perseverance of our president Jose Guillermo Davila and his board of directors; and the help of the National Headquarters the date was finally set and with the help of God we were on our way.

On Wednesday, for the early arrivals, judges from the mainland had a welcome dinner at Antonio’s Restaurant; a Spanish restaurant where succulent Spanish paella was served it was a very warm welcome activity.

Next day, the 21 of April, during the day all the normal tasks before judging were achieved. In the evening we had a cocktail at Nico Toyota Museum, largest Toyota Museum in the world, with finger buffet and drinks.

Friday came, The National Meet, with the place full of cars, 131 cars to be judged for Junior and Senior, some slight rain, but our Caribbean sun came to the rescue. It was a great view seeing all the judges in their blue shirts busy as bees. A lot of excitement for the Seniors that won, this meant they could stay for the next day and try out for a Grand National.

Saturday, 23 of April, the awaited Grand National, We had the finest all lined up, now the Judges had their black shirts, clipboards on hand ready to get to the field, rain came down for some minutes, but soon our skies cleared up and the judging of 74 cars started. In the afternoon our toys were all judged.

Next, the Awards Dinner, with an Elvis Presley impersonator, that was a surprise for our mainland special visitors. All the awards were given, pictures taken; dancing even a roasted pig on the rod was served Caribbean style.

We are honored and grateful to have an excellent group of judges from the States, that today they can count us as friends and will be welcomed any time to the island.

From Puerto Rico, with Love……………
