Honoring Our Heroes at the VA Hospital
August 1, 2025 – Hato Rey, Puerto Rico
Last Saturday, we were honored to accept an invitation from Dr. Francisco Díaz Lozada to showcase a selection of our classic cars at a special event hosted at the VA Hospital. This gathering allowed us to share our passion for automotive history with a group of veterans receiving services—true heroes of our nation.
The event was beautifully coordinated by Mr. Melvin Ramos, President of the Organizing Committee for the upcoming 2026 AACA Special Nationals, whose leadership continues to strengthen our connection with the community.
Our group of enthusiasts assembled bright and early at Melvin’s Garage in Bayamón. By 9:00 AM, engines were humming and spirits were high as we cruised toward the Hato Rey Veterans’ Club. Upon arrival at 9:30 AM, we were warmly received by the veterans, whose discipline and enthusiasm reminded us of the strength and character they embody.
As soon as we parked, the club members joined us outside, eager to explore the vehicles. Their passion and technical knowledge stood out—they weren’t just fans of classic cars, they were seasoned enthusiasts. Many shared stories and asked thoughtful questions, turning the parking lot into a vibrant hub of exchange and camaraderie. They even brought snacks for us to enjoy together—an unexpected and appreciated gesture.
We held a brief presentation on the mission and legacy of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), followed by members including Jose Boscana, Jaime Del Valle, and Melvin Ramos sharing insights into the history and evolution of their vehicles. The atmosphere was electric with mutual respect and fascination.
To our surprise and heartfelt appreciation, each car owner was presented with a commemorative award for participating. But more than any award, the real honor was connecting with these veterans and sharing our love for classic cars in such a meaningful way.
“Thank you for what you did for our homeland and for world peace.”
Photos from the event are featured.
From all of us at AACA Puerto Rico Region—thank you to our veteran heroes for your service, your stories, and your warm welcome.
